Services for agencies and businesses
Every piece of content you put out has the potential to impact your audience’s opinion of you, your company, your brand — positively or negatively.
Errors and inconsistencies pull attention away from your message and affect the trust your clients or customers have in you. Mistakes such as misspelled names or incorrect contact information can hurt your bottom line. Insensitive language or factual errors can harm your reputation.
Professional copyediting and proofreading can give you peace of mind. Sometimes, an extra set of eyes and an outside perspective is just what you need to feel confident about your final product.
While my edits and suggestions are made with your best interest in mind, ultimately, it is your decision whether or not to implement my revisions.

Copyediting is usually what people have in mind when they say, “Hey, can you edit this for me?”
While copyediting does not include major rewriting or restructuring of your work, it does involve more finessing than a final proofread (in which I would just be looking for any indisputable errors).
When I copyedit, I look for consistency in spelling, capitalization, punctuation, hyphenation, and abbreviations, as well as the treatment of numbers and lists. I also correct errors in grammar, syntax, and usage.
I will address any wordy or potentially confusing parts of the copy and query any factual inconsistencies. I can also ensure that copy adheres to your brand voice and is clear and engaging for your target audience.
I’ll work with your preferred style guide — whether you use AP, Chicago, a brand-specific style guide, or something else. If you don’t use a style guide, we have options: I can work with you to develop a client- or brand-specific style sheet, or I can simply ensure that any of your stylistic preferences are adhered to in each project.
-
Proofreading is the last step before publication, whether online or in print.
When I proofread, I only correct indisputable errors in spelling, grammar, and punctuation; flag problems with layout and typography; and address any serious issues that were not rectified in earlier rounds of editing.
-
Comparison checks involve comparing a proof file against a marked-up file to ensure that all requested revisions were made correctly and that no errors were introduced between versions.
